Coolidge High School is an existing facility that has been operating since 1940. The school is located in the Takoma neighborhood of Northwest Washington, DC, surrounded by one and two-story residential buildings. The site address is 6315 5th St NW, Washington, DC 20011. This project is for the modernization (219,340 sf) and addition (46,720 sf) to the existing Coolidge High School facility, and the renovation of the Frank Williams Center (83,402 sf). The project is being designed to achieve LEED Gold. There will be some improvements or restorations to the stadium, fields, and grounds as well.
The site is located in Ward 4 in Washington, DC, at 6315 5th Street NW. The block bound by 5th Street NW to the west, Van Buren to the north, 3rd Street NW to the east, and Sheridan Street NW to the south is all public land and used by Coolidge High School on the west side, Takoma Aquatic Center to the north, and the athletic stadium to the east. Most of the surrounding properties are residential in nature, with the exceptions of Whittier Elementary School to the south and a park to the north.
